As a proud Snapchat Measurement Partner, Adjust can track all of your user acquisition campaigns. This means that we can collect data on, and analyze the performance of, your Snapchat Mobile App Install Ads. Full details on this integration can be found below.

Note: Snapchat requires that Adjust pass certain parameters to their servers for attribution. When you activate the Snapchat module, Adjust will automatically transmit the following parameters to Snapchat:

  • All partner parameters (if activated)
  • Revenue data (if activated)
  • OS name and versions
  • Timestamps
  • Tracking Enabled flag

1Activating the Snapchat integration in your Adjust Dashboard

In just a few steps, Adjust will begin tracking all of your Snapchat Mobile App Install Ads.

Instructions

In the Adjust Dashboard:

  1. Select App Settings > (Settings) Partner Setup > Snapchat
  2. Review and accept the Snapchat Terms and Conditions
  3. Insert your app store App ID

Once complete, Adjust will automatically begin tracking all of your mobile app installs from Snapchat. Adjust also sends sessions and reattributions to Snapchat. This is just for reporting purposes on Snapchat’s end. If you want Adjust to display reattributions from Snapchat campaigns, please toggle on Reattribution Tracking.

2Customizing your Snapchat integration

2.1How to forward Adjust tracked events to Snapchat

Event linking allows Adjust to pass detailed event data directly to Snapchat for more precise targeting and analysis. Every Adjust tracked in-app event can be mapped to a predefined Snapchat event. A predefined event refers to a select list of of pre-set labels that Snapchat will use in organizing event data.

Instructions

In the Adjust Dashboard:

  1. Select App Settings > (Settings) Partner Setup > Snapchat
  2. Select Event Linking

Beneath each Adjust tracked in-app event you will see a field with a dropdown menu. Use the dropdown menu to select a predefined Snapchat event that correlates to your Adjust tracked event. For reference, the Snapchat labels are:

  • Add Cart
  • Add Billing
  • Add Open
  • Level Complete
  • Page View
  • Purchase
  • Save
  • Search
  • Sign Up
  • Start Checkout
  • View Content

Event mapping is flexible, so you can match events at the most granular levels within Snapchat. Once you’ve mapped the intended events between Adjust and Snapchat, navigate to the bottom of your Adjust module and select SAVE

2.2How to forward custom event data to Snapchat

With Adjust SDK version 4.0 and above, you can implement Partner Parameters. Partner Parameter mapping allows Adjust to collect custom data points from your app and transmit them directly to Snapchat’s servers.

Partner Parameters must be setup within the Adjust SDK. For developer instructions, by platform, refer to the links below.

Once the SDK modifications are complete, you will need to enable parameter forwarding within the Adjust Dashboard, as well. Setup instructions are as follows.

Instructions

In the Adjust Dashboard

  1. Select App Settings > (Settings) Partner Setup > Snapchat
  2. Select the PARTNER PARAMETER MAPPING
  3. In the partner parameter mapping tab, there are two fields: FROM APP and TO SNAPCHAT. In the FROM APP field, insert the name of your Adjust Partner Parameter, as written into the Adjust SDK.
  4. In the TO SNAPCHAT field, insert your corresponding Snapchat defined name
  5. When you are happy with your setup, navigate to the bottom of the module and select SAVE

Upon activation, Adjust will immediately begin forwarding custom event details directly to Snapchat for any of your linked events.

Important Notes

  • If a partner parameter name is defined in the FROM APP column but the corresponding field in the TO SNAPCHAT column is empty, then this paramater will not be sent to Snapchat
  • Any partner parameter that is not mentioned in the mapping will be sent with its existing name

2.3How to forward Adjust tracked in-app revenues and purchases to Snapchat

Revenue forwarding allows Adjust to pass detailed revenue data directly to Snapchat.

Instructions

In the Adjust Dashboard:

  1. Click App Settings > (Settings) Partner Setup > Snapchat
  2. Toggle the REVENUE FORWARDING button ON
  3. Then, select Event Linking
  4. In the event linking tab, find your purchase events and map them directly to Purchase in the dropdown list below. Please note that this integration requires at least one revenue event be linked as Purchase. However, you can link as many purchase events to Purchase as needed.

After you’ve mapped the intended events between Adjust and Snapchat, Adjust will transmit in-app purchases and revenue amounts to be displayed in your Snapchat UI.

2.4Managing Snapchat accounts for ad spend tracking

To track Snapchat ad spend data in your Adjust Dashboard you must link a Snapchat business account and any associated ad accounts to Adjust. A Snapchat business account is used for managing ad accounts and ads that run on Snapchat.

Notes:

  • Only Adjust admins can add Snapchat accounts in the Adjust Dashboard
  • The first time you link a Snapchat business account, Adjust will pull ad spend data for the previous 30 days. Following this, Adjust will pull Snapchat data every 3 hours.
How to add a Snapchat business account

Instructions

In the Adjust Dashboard

  1. Select MENU to open the main navbar (left-hand side) and navigate to Account Settings > Snapchat
  2. Select ADD ACCOUNT, use your Snapchat business account login credentials, and select Authorize, so that Adjust can access your Snapchat campaign data, then select Continue
  3. Check the Snapchat ad accounts that you want to link to Adjust. Adjust will automatically begin tracking Snapchat ad spend data for any linked accounts.
  4. Select SAVE

Once you have added a Snapchat business account to the Adjust Dashboard, you become the Snapchat account owner within Adjust. Only the Snapchat account owner can manage which Snapchat ad accounts are linked to the Adjust Dashboard.

How to manage your linked Snapchat business accounts

For the owner of a Snapchat business account within Adjust

The owner of a Snapchat business account within Adjust can link and unlink Snapchat ad accounts by selecting Manage linked accounts (only visible to the account owner). If an ad account is linked, it will be visible to all Adjust admins.

Any Adjust admin can select the settings (gear) icon on a Snapchat business account to view a complete list of linked ad accounts. Linked ad accounts are on by default, meaning Adjust will automatically track and display their ad spend data in your Dashboard. You can toggle each ad account on or off. When toggled off, Adjust will not track any ad spend data from that ad account.

If you want to remove any connection between a Snapchat business account and your Adjust Dashboard, select the settings (gear) icon on an account and select UNLINK. This will prevent Adjust from tracking Snapchat ad spend data for all associated ad accounts. To continue tracking ad spend for one or more of the associated Snapchat ad accounts, you will need to add this Snapchat business account again.

What Snapchat campaign data does adjust report?

As of August 8, 2017, all attributed installs are reported with the following campaign details:

network (top level): Snapchat Installs

	campaign (sub-level 1): Snapchat Campaign name and ID
	
		adgroup (sub-level 2): Snapchat Ad Squad name and ID 
		
			creative (sub-level 3): Snapchat Ad name and ID

All installs attributed before August 8, 2017, are reported with the following campaign details:

network (top level): Snapchat Installs

	campaign (sub-level 1): Snapchat Campaign name and ID
	
		adgroup (sub-level 2): Snapchat Ad name and ID
		
			creative (sub-level 3): unknown

Why aren’t my Snapchat campaigns tracking in Adjust?

Answer 1: Improper integration setup

Once you’ve inserted your App Store ID in the appropriate field of your Adjust Dashboard Snapchat module, Adjust will track all of your Snapchat campaigns, automatically. Full instructions on activating Adjust’s integration with Snapchat can be found here.

Answer 2: Installs claimed by Snapchat fall outside of the attribution window

Adjust will only report installs in instances that conversions have occurred within the applicable last click or impression attribution window. Therefore, if Snapchat reports an install driven outside of Adjust’s attribution window, the install could be attributed as Organic.
